Important information about shipping
Returning of equipment to ATS Switzerland for repair / service.
Please note that Swiss customs will automatically charge importation duty and VAT on ALL imports with a value of Chf 1’000.- or more. The Swiss VAT rate is 8% and the duty is 3% of the declared value plus the importation handling fees of around Chf 20.-
This means that a device marked with a value of 5’000 (€, $ or Chf) would have approximately the following costs:
VAT : Chf 400.- Duty: Chf 150.- Handling: Chf 20.-
Total cost Chf 570.-
These charges CANNOT be claimed back even if the item is marked “Return for estimate / quotation” or “repair” or “Warranty exchange” etc. These charges will be invoice to the sender prior to the return of the item.
So, please mark any goods dispatched to us clearly with the following phrase:
“Value for customs purposes only XX (Chf / $, € as appropriate) return for repair” (XX being less than Chf 1’000.-)
