Developped in 1967 for the French Navy, the “Crevette” (Prawn or shrimp in English) was a recorder designed to fit inside a submarine torpedo.
Key features
Fired from a submarine inside a “blank” torpedo, it recorded the ballistic data from the internal gyro’s and navigation systems of the torpedo so that engineers could later perfect the tracking trajectory and guidance systems within the torpedo.
