More than 70 years of innovation

In 1951, Stefan Kudelski, a gifted 22-year-old engineer, developed an extremely high quality, miniature, self-contained audio recorder which he named simply the “Nagra I”. Nagra is a Polish word meaning “will record”. The interest in his invention was immediate. The Nagra II and III followed in the mid to late ‘50s revolutionizing the world of radio broadcasting, cinema and music.

In recognition of his contribution to culture and science, the Nagra Company received numerous awards including Oscars® in 1978 and 1991. Today Nagra enjoys universal fame and the word “Nagra” is associated with the best Swiss technology.

Audio Technology Switzerland was created in 2012 as a spin-off of the Audio division from the Kudelski group. The members of the Kudelski family are the main shareholders of this new entity. Audio Technology Switzerland SA is present in three principal sectors: high-end Hi-Fi equipment, professional audio recorders and devices destined for security and law enforcement.

Founded in the pursuit of excellence in sound recording and sound reproduction, Nagra has a rich history of producing some of the world’s best analog recording and playback devices. Nagra now added to this remarkable legacy of products with the introduction of its first turntable and tonearm system.

NAGRA HD PREAMP

Sets new record specifications and together with the HD AMP becomes the reference for top set-ups around the globe.

NAGRA PL-P

NAGRA ARES-C

The Ares C, a digital recorder for broadcast, becomes the absolute reference for major stations around the globe such as the BBC, Radio France, Europe 1, RTL and many others.

Nagra D and D II, the first digital recorders to make 96 kHz 24 bit recordings, and still a reference to this day.

NAGRA TA

Nagra TA is the first studio recorder, a very smooth dual-capstan drive that offers high stability and respect for the precious tape.

NAGRA IV-S

Nagra IV-S, the first stereo Nagra opens up a new window of opportunity in music recordings.

1969

NAGRA SNST

A Nagra SN is taken on the Apollo mission to the Moon; the Série Noire or Black-Series is designed following a US government agency request for ultra-compact, high quality recording.
