NAGRA
Equipment designed for the Radio industry is often referred
to as Broadcast equipment. Naturally
many of our recorders fall into several different categories
depending principally on the associated accessories. In general
when we talk about RADIO we refer to in-the-field journalistic
reporting and the ARES-M, ARES-PII+, ARES-BB+ and ARES-C are
our current products in this range. Naturally the NAGRA-E
and 4.2 were historically the standard machines in this industry
but are seldom used today.
The
music industry for NAGRA falls principally into two categories:
The first being MASTERING and the second being PERSONAL. The
mastering category is for high quality location recordings
for the manufacture of CD's. In this area the NAGRA-DII is
the flagship and the NAGRA V follows a close second. The second
category is the PERSONAL where an individual wants to record
himself playing the piano / guitar for his own use, not specifically
for mastering and the ARES-BB+ is very well suited for this purpose.
The
cinema industry naturally also enclaves the Television industry
and in principal refers to Synchronization of sound to picture.
In the past the NAGRA 4.2, IV-S / STC were the leaders but
nowadays the NAGRA-D-II and more so the NAGRA V with their
internal time code options are designed for this market.

The security industry can be broken into two categories, the SURVEILLANCE
industry and the SPYING side. In
the first case the emphasis is on long duration recordings
and the NAGRA V or V-PP are ideal for this. In the second case
we are referring to body-worn recorders. In the past the SNST and the
JBR / PS-1 were used extensively for this application.
